New Year's Eve Bash

Hope you all had a great Christmas. Brie and I are excited about having you all over to our house on New Year's Eve. Be sure to sign up and get directions if you are interested. It is from 7:00pm to 1:00am. We look forward to seeing you.

Update: No Wii yet but I am still looking. There will be an Xbox 360 for sure.

Sometimes Christmas carols can be tough to sing. This guy has an awful time with O Holy Night. As long as you can do a little better than him, you can go caroling with us tomorrow.

Caroling tomorrow night

Don't forget, we're going Christmas caroling tomorrow night. Meet at the church office at 6:00 pm and we'll return at 8:00 pm. We're visiting a couple of nursing homes and a making a couple of other stops. Don't be late or we might leave accidentally you behind.

Video of the Week: Basketball to the head

This little clip is very short but hilarious. Notice the kid running down the side of the court in the first part of the video. You have to appreciate the slide after the hit. You have to watch it again and look at just the crowds reaction. This clip is funny on so many levels.

No internet over Thanksgiving

Sorry for the lack of posts there. I didn't have any internet access last week while Brie and I were traveling. We'll try to make up for it with some good stuff this week.

Thanksgiving Plans

Hey guys, remember there is no Thrive next week (Nov. 22) because of Thanksgiving. I hope that you all have a great time doing whatever you are doing. Perhaps you will be:

• spending time with family
• eating
• watching football
• playing football
• doing homework
• whatever else your family may do

Wednesday Night Preview

Tomorrow night we will be finishing up the series in Daniel we've been calling "Stand Up". This last lesson is "Stay Standing". We are going to see Daniel at the end of his life in what is probably a familiar story to many of you. It will be cool to see it in a new light after looking at his whole life. By the way, as mentioned to some of you on Sunday morning, we have a pretty sweet game planned.

I'm trying out this new look. I need to find one to stick with because it is a lot of work to change it around. Any feedback is welcome, otherwise I am sticking with it.

Bonfire Saturday, November 11

This is the perfect time of the year for a bonfire. A little on the cool side but not freezing. Plan on coming to Thrive's bonfire this coming Saturday. We could have it in the parking lot of the church office but when the police show up to ask us to stop, it wouldn't be a whole lot of fun. So, we are loading up at the church office, then heading to a family's house in the country where we can freely enjoy our bonfire fun. We'll roast hot dogs and s'mores, hang out, and maybe even play a little Capture the Flag. When we've had all the fun we can handle we'll make our way back to the office.

Hope you can make it. 5:00-9:00 pm. Bring 3 bucks for food.

Night of Prayer

This week we are changing gears a bit. We are joining with the church in a special night of prayer. The time won't change to much, it will be from 7:00-8:30 pm. I really hope that you are all able to make it to this. It is a great chance to come together as a body and focus on simply talking to God.
